“Old” social work, while born from wonderful intentions and deep compassion, often operated under immense pressure, leading to reactive interventions that addressed the most immediate or apparent needs. Social workers, though dedicated, were often overworked and underfunded, making it challenging to implement holistic, long-term strategies.
Our 10 Domains of Wellbeing scale shifts this paradigm, empowering both the case manager and the family to clearly see the journey ahead and celebrate progress along the way.
This system provides a transparent framework, eliminating guesswork and fostering a proactive approach to wellbeing. It ensures that every family’s unique strengths are recognized and built upon, allowing for tailored support that genuinely moves them towards self-sufficiency and resilience. At its heart, this rating system champions the dignity of human beings. Gone are the days of intrusive, lengthy interrogations where families might feel exposed or disempowered while paperwork they cannot read or see is filled out in front of them. Our approach prioritizes building authentic relationships. Social workers are encouraged to truly get to know the family first, understanding their context, strengths, and aspirations.
The actual scoring then occurs privately, away from the family, respecting their space and privacy. This process, paired with open communication about the system’s purpose – to set families up for success – fosters a collaborative environment.
The 10 domains provide the bedrock for our case management workflow and our work to walk alongside families and communities.
