Mothers and Sons Roam with the Dinosaurs at Inaugural CERI Event

About 50 moms and their sons attended the inaugural CERI Mother Son Night of Fun at the Witte Museum in San Antonio on Friday, May 19.

Moms and their handsome young “dates,” adorned in their Sunday best, toured the awe-inspiring dinosaur installations. Huge dinosaur fossils towered above the glittering tablescapes, where guests enjoyed a catered dinner and desserts from a creative and plentiful candy bar. The boys could hardly resist grabbing cookies, cupcakes, and homemade sweet treats from the all-you-can-eat display… even before the absolutely delicious dinner was served.

The boys and their moms had a blast striking a pose in the photo booth with all the fun and quirky props, taking home playful photo souvenirs. When the DJ started spinning family-friendly jams, the dance floor filled up with rambunctious boys showing off their moves and waving their neon glowsticks, and later, proud mammas enjoying a formal dance with their precious sons.

Between exploring the exhibits, posing for pics, and dancing, guests could dig for dinosaur fossils in the interactive learning lab, complete with a pit filled with dino bones.

It was a memorable night for all…a night our newest CERI friends and partners in San Antonio will never forget!

CERI Executive Director Connie Belciug addressed the crowd during a brief interlude, to introduce them to the work of CERI and encourage them to sponsor a child overseas. Proceeds from sold-out event will support CERI’s work abroad. The event was held to raise awareness about CERI’s life-saving work bringing hope to orphaned, oppressed, impoverished and abused children in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, India and Sri Lanka.

“We were thrilled to have such a great response for this event, which is the first of its kind,” said BCFS Vice President-Philanthropy Ashley Krimmel. “We wanted an opportunity to bring families together for a memorable night, and inspire them with stories about CERI kids. When more people get involved, CERI can do even more impactful work for families abroad.”
